Carroll To The Seahawks?

Seattle Seahawks Going Back To School

The Seattle Seahawks have fired their head coach Jim Mora. They informed Mora earlier today that he didn't win enough games to keep his job. That could be true but in watching a few of the Seahawks that team played uninspired football. The Mora firing is only half the story. Apprantly The Seahawks have targeted Pete Carroll as their new head coach. Carroll has been wooed by NFL teams ever since he has turned USC into a football factory. The Southern Cal football program had been dormant until Pete took over in the 90's after being booted from the NFL. Carroll has always stayed true to SC but I think the mounting NCAA violations maybe pushing him to leave the school.

Reggie, Reggie!!

Carroll is scheduled to give a deposition on the alleged Reggie Bush violation that were discovered a few years ago. If the NCAA finds that Carroll or someone on his staff provided Bush or his family with improper benefits then there National Championship and Bush's Heisman trophy will be taken away. Carroll's legacy would be tarnished. By leaving and going to the Seahawks he might be able to dodge the deposition and preserve any shot at keeping his legacy intact.

Seahawks can provide Carroll with the chance to run the whole show like he does at SC. Pete has said in the past that if he did go to the NFL he would want total control. The Seahawks and Paul Allen are looking for a GM and head coach. The Seahawks were trying to hire Mike Holmgren as the GM but he passed and took the Cleveland job. Carroll wanted to stay close to the water and on the west coast,in Seattle he has both. Paul Allen has the money to sign the players that Carroll wants. Hopefully Carroll is good at recruiting pro players as he is college kids. If he is, then the Seahawks will be contenders shortly.

Who would have imagined two months ago that possibly the Florida and USC coaching job could be open?

  1. Pete got outta town before the posse. USC is looking at some major infractions in both the football and basketball programs. At least with the Seahawks it is legal to pay the players.

  2. I liked how he said the infractions did not have anything to do with it in his press conference. Don't lie, we all know the truth
